EXCELLENT Based on 24 reviews Posted on Vista de LagoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Touring with Brian and Personal Tours of Scotland was the single best travel tour we’ve ever had. Very professional approach, comfortable vehicle, attention to detail at every turn. The itinerary was made flexible to accommodate real time weather and other unforeseen circumstances. But the best part - besides the Scottish landscape and architecture itself - were the stories about Scotland’s history, clans, terrain and more that our guide shared with us all along the way. Highly recommend leaving the driving and itinerary to Brian and Personal Tours of Scotland.Posted on Bridget HandkinsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We absolutely adored Paul! Our (very large) family has a lot of personality and he was just the right fit for us. We fell in love with Scotland through the gorgeous views, rich history, and exciting experiences Paul led us through. We unfortunately had a few issues outside of Personal Tours, and Paul was more than helpful in guiding us to success there as well. Highly recommend!Posted on Desiree GuthrieTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We used this travel company for a large group of Americans visiting Scotland to learn about their heritage. Brian and his tour guides were amazing. Brian and Rob were informative, knowledgeable, and entertaining. They were also helpful with managing luggage up the stairs at some of the hotels without lifts. If we ever return to Scotland, we would definitely use them again.Posted on Kristin OlsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our trip to Scotland couldn’t have been more perfect. Thanks to Stuart and Personal Tours of Scotland, we enjoyed a wonderful and adventurous experience exploring the Highlands and the breathtaking landscape of Scotland. Stuart’s professionalism was outstanding. He was always punctual, cheerful, and offered thoughtful recommendations whenever our plans changed on the fly. Along the way, he shared fascinating insights into Scotland’s history, geography, and cultural significance. His commentary gave us a deeper understanding of the Scottish way of life. Being guided by a native Scotsman made all the difference. This was our first time in Scotland—and as every traveler knows, first impressions matter. Stuart’s warm, positive energy brought our days to life as we journeyed through the Scottish landscape. A guide is more than someone who just shows you around. They take on the responsibility of being the face and voice of their country and culture to visitors from all across the world. It is through their work that we carry home the essence of a place—its people, its stories, and its spirit. These experiences are shared, remembered, and passed on in ways that leave lasting impressions. A good guide will give you a good time—but a great guide makes you feel like you’ve traveled far, only to come home. Thank you Stuart and Personal Tours for the trip of a lifetime.Posted on John Jesse JeffordsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently travelled to Scotland for the first time and was with a group of family and friends. We went with Personal Tours of Scotland to take us on a journey from Edinburgh to Inverness to Glasgow and back, and I'm so happy we did! From start to finish we had an amazing experience. Our guide Paul had so much knowledge to share as he took us through the beauty, mystery, and incredible history of Scotland. Paul helped make sure we got the most out of every moment and made our trip so special. It was a true pleasure to meet him and our deepest thanks to Paul, Brian, and Personal Tours of Scotland! If you're considering a private tour, they are the way to go!Posted on Jason Lucas LuijckxTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Straight from the jump, Brian and Personal Tours of Scotland were the most professional out of the various tour companies we approached. As opposed to all the others, Brian took the time to listen to my wishes, and did his absolute best to hit every last thing I asked for. When the day came, we couldn't have asked for better. The forecast was rainy but we had a great day, Brian's lunch suggestion was fantastic, and our generally quiet family was kept very entertained the whole time. Thank you!!!Posted on Neal ShactTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a wonderful trip to Scotland and appreciate all the help Brian and his team provided to help us plan our trip. The advice and suggestions greatly contributed to have a great trip. We really enjoyed the four days we spent with our guide, Chris Chirnside. He’s very knowledgeable, cheerful and upbeat. We saw a lot of things from our planned itinerary but also deviated on the fly to make changes that were fun. Also fun was the pub we hit in Inverness, where we had a “slice of life”, a local female dancer (not one of the pub’s entertainers). Wish we had stayed longer and look forward to a return visit.Posted on Summer SwimTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. If I could give 6 stars I would. David was our tour guide and he literally made the trip! I could tell he had a passion for sharing about and showing off all of the highlights of his beautiful country. We did not miss a thing in just 5 quick days. David rocks!!Posted on Jayde GrayTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a wonderful week with Dave as we traveled throughout Scotland! He helped us fill each day with beautiful sights, interesting stories and great laughs! Dave filled our trip with one of a kind experiences, from local ferries in Skye to a unique viewing place to see the King and Queen at the Braemar Gathering!Posted on Donna HimmelmanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently had the pleasure of touring with Personal Tours of Scotland with two of my daughter, a son-in-law and family friend. Our guide was David. David was incredible meeting the wishes of each of us in turn. We nick named him Magic Dave as time and again he just made timing and places work for us. I can’t thank Personal Tours of Scotland enough for such a magical experience.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. Learn a little bit about the man behind the kilt: Brian Collie has worked in the travel and tourism industry since 1986, where he started as a holiday representative working with tourists in Spain, the Canary Islands and Turkey. He then worked as a Flight Attendant in Upper Class with Virgin Atlantic Airways, meeting many interesting and famous people along the way. Brian was also a flight attendant for the Emir of Qatar on his private jets for four years, and owned a small hotel in the Trossachs area of Scotland.
Brian’s philosophy is simple, “Customer service is king, treat everyone as an individual and as important as each other. In my eyes, there is no difference between the ruler of a country and a hard working couple looking for a relaxing break.”
Brian now tailors private tours of Scotland to suit your individual needs with an in-depth knowledge of this great country. We are launching ‘Small Group Tours of Scotland’ as well frm April 2026. “ We believe that there is a gap in the market for quality small group tours in spacious luxury customised vehicles”.
Your customised private tour of Scotland benefits from Brian’s years of experience in the travel and customer service industries. Brian started with the idea of offering personal, bespoke tours for discerning clients, and it soon became apparent to him that there was a lot of demand for this service. He managed to gather some of the best tour guides in Scotland to join him, and Personal Tours of Scotland was born.
What are the pre-requisites for a top quality tour guide? Personality, approachability, great customer service skills, with the ability to think on their feet and of course, local knowledge. It’s pointless having a guide who knows every academic fact but can’t tell you the words of the “Jeely Piece” song!
Our operational base is Edinburgh, but the guides are from all over Scotland so we can pick up and drop off from anywhere in the country. Our vehicles are varied from luxury 4×4 SUV’s to 8 seater VIP Mercedes Sprinters. Let us embark on an adventure that you will never forget, from 1-day to 21-day experiences.
Our private tours of Scotland and small group tours offer a range of experiences to meet various requirements. Whether you want to tour St. Andrews, the home of golf, visit historical Stirling, see movie locations, or look for your Clan ancestry in the Scottish Highlands, we can help you.
Want to see the famous sights as well as the hidden gems that most tourists never get to see? Then don’t hesitate to get in touch with Personal Tours of Scotland, our family-run company.
Personal Tours of Scotland is owned and operated by Brian Collie. Transparency is important to us, and we want you to feel completely comfortable before booking your tour. You can find reviews from past travelers about Brian’s exceptional service on TripAdvisor.

We had the most magical time in the Scottish Highlands. This tour far surpassed any and all expectations I had, thanks in large part to our fabulous tour guide. Chris was lovely from the moment we met him and went out of his way the entire time to accommodate us. Not only is he a talented tour guide, but he’s also a great person who radiates positive energy. Although we had just met, it felt like we had known him for years. Chris was so thoughtful and patient with our group, plus he knew of all the best spots. 10/10. Highly recommend this tour!
