DAY 1
Edinburgh to Inveraray
As we follow in the foot steps of Jamie & Claire, our first port of call for a photo opportunity is Hopetoun House, home of the traitor, Duke of Sandringham in the series. Moving on in the same estate is Lallybroch (Midhope Castle). It is a ruin and cant get inside however, easily recognisable. In the grounds, Red Jamie hid from the Redcoats here so we’ll guide you there.
Onwards to the intimidating Blackness Castle which doubled up as Fort William in the programme. It was here that Jamie was flogged to an inch of his life.
Linlithgow Palace, birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots is the next location. This was Wentworth Prison, a very unpleasant scene filmed here.
A wee break from Outlander as we visit the stunning Kelpies...why ? Because they are there!
We leave the Highlight of the day until the end, Castle Leoch, Doune Castle , ancestral Home of the Clan Mackenzie.
DAY 2
The Real 'Craigh Na Dun' & Culloden
We head North into the wild Highlands to the location of the standing stones, known as Craigh Na Dun. There are no stones on the hill, but it is undoubtably the location. There is evidence of a previous stone circle, and you do feel an eerie awkwardness when roaming about this wilderness, as if you are being watched!
From here, Queens view before lunch at House of Bruar, (think of a countryside Harrods), the food is gorgeous!
We keep going north until we stop at Clava Cairns, 5000 year old Standing stone and tombs. Diana Galbaldons favourite place in Scotland.
Finishing our day, we pay our respects to the gallant Highlanders who charged into oblivion at the battlefield of Culloden ( 1746)
DAY 3
Witches Trial & Jamies Ghost
A morning departure takes us down the main spine of Scotland to Newtonmore Highland Village ( Scene of the Mackenzie village and the ‘wool washing’).
A welcome break at the Spa town of Pitlochry before Tibbermore Church where we witnessed the Witches trial of Claire and Gillies Duncan. You too can bear the Devils mark whislt standing on the dock/pulpit.
One of my favourite places in Scotland is next. The Beautiful Medieval town of Falkand which doubles up as Inverness in the show. You can stand at the spot where Frank seen the ghost of Jamie standing by the Guest house where Claire was staying. You can even have a coffee in the shop where Claire longed for a vase!
In this tour , you will not only see fantastic filming locations, but also much of the wonderful scenery that Scotland has to offer.
Other days can be added on if you wish to travel deeper into the Highlands and perhaps the Islands.

Overnighting in the Trossachs town of Callander is so close to where most of the outdoor scenes in season 5 were filmed in Callander Woods! Our second night needs no introduction, Inverness!
