The Isle of Skye Your Way: From the Quiraing and the Old Man of Storr to Portree and Dunvegan Castle—or off the beaten track via the Kylerhea ferry, Glenelg and a boat trip around Plockton Harbour.
Outlander on the Way Home: Visit Tibbermore Church, scene of the witch trial, and the medieval village of Falkland with its 14th-century palace, frequented by Mary, Queen of Scots.
We head out of the city to the magnificent Forth Bridges at South Queensferry, a UNESCO World Heritage site, then over the Queensferry Crossing to the Kingdom of Fife. We visit the historic medieval town of St Andrews and take a stroll on the Old Course before heading north over the Tay Bridge to Dundee and on into Perthshire and the Highlands.
If we have time, we visit the ancient tombs of Clava Cairns. We leave the best until last: Culloden Battlefield, a sacred place in Scotland, where the Jacobites faced their last stand against overwhelming odds in 1746.
A stunning drive north and a short hike to the lovely Rogie Falls through some of Scotland’s ancient and rare pine forests. Heading west on the most beautiful of roads in wild Wester Ross, we pass through the 4-billion-year-old Torridon mountains (give or take a year or two).
A wee break in the beautiful village of Shieldaig before heading up the Bealach na Bà, the steepest road in Scotland. We arrive on Skye via the bridge in the late afternoon.

Then to the Kingdom of Fife and the stunning medieval village of Falkland, where Frank sees the ghost of Jamie in season 1, episode 1. Here you can also visit 14th-century Falkland Palace, frequented by Mary, Queen of Scots.
